ABOUT THE DESIGNER
The FLOW Signature Watercolor Kit was created by Samantha Dunne, artist, educator, and founder of The Ugly Art Studio.
With backgrounds in Fine Art, Sustainable Architectural Science, and Arts in Health, Samantha designs research-informed creative experiences that help more people experience the wellbeing benefits of artmaking. Her work draws from art, design, psychology, and neuroaesthetics to create experiences that feel approachable, welcoming, and meaningful.
Every detail — from the materials and activity guide to the packaging and playlist — is intentionally designed around one simple belief:

I'm not an artist. Will I be able to use this kit?
Yes. FLOW is built for exploring, not performing. The guided experiences give you somewhere to start without telling you what the result should look like, and nothing in the kit assumes you've painted before. In a Drexel University study, cortisol dropped for about 75% of participants after 45 minutes of artmaking, with no meaningful difference between people who had made art before and people who hadn't.
What if I don't like what I make?
That's normal, and it isn't a problem to solve. FLOW is designed around what happens while you're making: attention, curiosity, choice, and the surprises watercolor delivers on its own. Art doesn't have to be good to be good for you.
Do I need anything that isn't in the box?
Just water. Paints, brushes, paper, palette, water dish, and washable cloth are all included, along with the guided experiences, sensory elements, and playlist.
How long does it take?
There's no clock on this. Each guided experience works as a single sitting, and the kit holds enough paper and paint to keep going well past the third one. FLOW is built for an ongoing practice, not a one-time sitting.
What's the difference between the Signature Kit and the Studio Kit?
Signature includes premium supplies plus sensory elements (candle, tea, sweet treat) in a reusable gift box, designed for one person to keep exploring. Studio Kits are streamlined for group settings and are available for bulk orders by quote rather than individual purchase.
